If you have a student (Grades 9-12) who would like to receive Confirmation this coming school year, please do the following:
Confirmation is set for Monday, May 10th, 2027 at 6:00pm.
1. Register your son or daughter for Confirmation using the sign-up link on the OLV Religious Education website (using either the CCD or St. Joe’s link):

Follow the instructions for registering for Confirmation. This will require you to open or update a Flocknote profile since we will be using that platform for communications this year. Please note: If you are using the CCD Confirmation link, this puts you on the list for Confirmation and registers your child for CCD classes that are held on Sunday. If you use the St. Joe’s link, this signs you up for Confirmation but your child is not required to come to CCD classes on Sunday. CCD classes (or equivalent Homeschool instruction) or St. Joe’s religion classes fulfills the Catechetical component of Confirmation prep.
2. Things to do over the summer:
Select a sponsor. This should be someone who is an active, practicing Catholic (follows the basic precepts of the Church, Confirmed, and if married, the marriage is recognized by the Church). Pick someone who is a good Christian witness. You will need to have your sponsor selected by the early fall since we will be asking students to complete 2-3 short assignments with their sponsors (this will be at your convenience, not an in-person event).
Look for and complete service hours: What gifts/talents do you have and can share? What need do you see that you can fulfill? We ask students to complete 10 service hours before Confirmation next May. It can be any form of service, but we ask you to consider giving 2 hours to the church in some way if possible. You can help family members or neighbors, create a small service project of your choosing, or volunteer in camps. See a need, fill a need! St. Joe’s students do not need to complete unique service hours for Confirmation. Whatever you do for SJCA service hours is acceptable for Confirmation.
3. Other components:
Discipleship Events: All students will be asked to complete 2 Discipleship Events between now and Confirmation. One will be Adoration with Bishop Mark at OLV on Saturday, October 24th at 10:00am, followed by a pizza lunch. OLV and Good Shepherd will be offering a list of other activities to fulfill the second event. I will share that list when it is complete.
Catechesis (Instruction): Attend religious education classes through CCD or St. Joe’s.
